Jewellery Care Guide

A few quiet rituals will keep your Kothari heirloom luminous for the daughter, and the granddaughter, after you.

Care by Craft

Caring for each tradition

Kundan

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid moisture, perfume and direct sunlight. Always store flat, away from other pieces, in the velvet pouch provided.

Meenakari

The enamel is hand-painted and fired in fire — treat it tenderly. Never use chemical cleaners. Polish only with a microfibre cloth, and store individually.

Polki

Uncut diamonds love stillness. Clean with a soft brush dipped in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap; dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth before storage.

Jadau

Avoid water and impact. Reset stones, if ever loose, only with the atelier. We recommend annual inspection during the festive season.

Daily Gold

Apply cosmetics, perfume and hair products before putting jewellery on. Remove before bathing, sleeping or exercising. Polish every few months with a jeweller's cloth.

Storage

Store each piece separately in a lined box or pouch to prevent abrasion. Keep in a dry environment; avoid humidity and direct sunlight.

Annual Service

The house will look after the jewel.

Every Kothari piece is welcome at the haveli once a year for a complimentary inspection, gentle polish and stone check.
